Solicitor Permit Information

Persons wishing to solicit door-to-door must apply for and be approved for a solicitors permit with the Village of Hawthorn Woods.  Solicitors must adhere to the following rules outlined in Section 3-4B-1 of the Hawthorn Woods Village Code::

• Each commercial solicitor shall prominently display the village issued solicitation permit photo ID while soliciting in the village.
• Every solicitor must cease solicitation upon the owner or occupant’s request.
• If a No Solicitors sign is posted on or near the main door, solicitors are not to enter or engage in solicitation on the premises.  The Village has No Solicitor window clings available free of charge to residents by contacting Donna Lobaito at dlobaito@vhw.org or at (847) 540-5222.
• Solicitation can occur between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. excluding Sundays, and state or national holidays.  Religious solicitors can solicit all days of the week between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Active Solicitor Permits

We want to keep our residents informed as to which companies and individuals have active solicitor permits with the Village. This information will be posted in our weekly E-Blast, in addition to this webpage. Presently, the following have active solicitor permits with the Village of Hawthorn Woods:

*Girl Scout solicitors are not issued photo IDs.
