Everyone has something to say about their feelings during this COVID-19 health crisis. We are looking for brave and talented souls who put those feelings in writing, as a poem, and share with the Hawthorn Woods community. Be part of the healing process from this virus by inspiring a positive message of hope.
All entries must follow the following rules:
Each poem must be of the poet’s own construction.
Any young poet in middle school or high school (including recent 2020 graduates) are eligible.
Each entrant agrees to have their work publicly displayed.
From the written submissions, five (5) entries will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of Village of Hawthorn Woods staff and community volunteers. Selected poets will be asked to submit a video clip of themselves reading their original poem. No props, costumes or musical instruments will be allowed.
The top five (5) entries will be placed on the Village Facebook page from June 10, 2020 through June 15, 2020. The public will choose the winning selection. The winner will be recognized at the June 22, 2020 Village Board Meeting.
Good luck to all and thank you for sharing your talents!
